Hi Honey I’m home!

I know how corny that sounds. Essentially this post can be categorised under ‘Aid Memoir’ as its only function really is to remind me (in the future) of what I have planted and where. You see yesterday I had gone to Tesco at Kew with the intention of getting some chopped tomatoes and kidney beans. So of course I came back with three Honeysuckles- hence the honey pun!

I must admit that they did look a bit apologetic, not nearly as bad as the ones I had left at the store who looked literally hours away from the compost bin, but in need of a good watering. Here’s what they looked like when I got them home:

Halliana

Belgica

The day after I planted them in what used to be known, by myself, as “The Shady Border” although now thanks to our addition of EIGHTEEN bags of Cotswold Cream stone, it’s about as ‘shady’ as the surface of the sun…and I love it that way.

I hope that these will soon span out and cover the wall in foliage for most of the year and flowers for a month or two which will doubtless attract bees, the bees will pollinate the flowers and we’ll have berries for birds to eat…I hope. At some point in time there may need to be a trellis added which could prove fun installing it retrospectively but I didn’t want to shell out for three trellises the week before pay day! I’ll keep you all posted on any progress.
